Your data, and how AI fits in

Co-parenting means trusting an app with sensitive family details. Here is exactly what CoreParent does with them, what Companion's AI can and can't see, and the controls you hold.

Private by default

Everything you put into CoreParent (your plan, journal, calendar, expenses, and messages) is yours alone. Your co-parent sees nothing unless you explicitly choose to share a specific item. Companion, our assistant, works only inside your own account and can never send a message to your co-parent; the send button is always yours.

What Companion's AI actually does

Companion uses Anthropic's Claude for a few specific jobs: spotting a calendar event, expense, or appointment inside a message so you can add it in one tap; offering a calmer rewrite when a draft might land hot; and summarizing records when you ask. It only ever receives what a feature needs to run, and our AI keys live on our servers, never in the app on your phone.

Never used to train AI. Deleted within 30 days.

We send that content to a single AI provider, Anthropic. We recently removed a second provider so there is one clear path. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your content is never used to train their models and is deleted within 30 days. We also do not keep the text of your prompts or Companion's replies in our own logs, only anonymous usage counts. Read the full privacy policy.

You can turn Companion AI off

If you would rather CoreParent never send your content to AI, turn Companion AI off in Settings → Notifications. While it is off, your messages and content are not sent to Anthropic, and everything else (your calendar, reminders, and records) keeps working exactly as before.

Your money never touches us

Payments between co-parents flow directly parent-to-parent through Stripe. CoreParent never holds your funds and never stores your card details.

Protected in transit and by access controls

Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), sign-in is handled by Clerk, and access is limited by role-based permissions with regular security reviews.

Common questions

Does AI read my messages?

Only when a feature needs it, for example to spot an event or expense you can add in one tap, or to suggest a calmer rewrite. You can turn Companion AI off entirely in Settings, and then nothing is sent to AI.

Do you train AI on my data?

No. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your content is not used to train their models, and it is deleted within 30 days. We also don't keep the text of your prompts or Companion's replies in our own logs.

Can I stop my data going to AI completely?

Yes. Turn Companion AI off in Settings → Notifications. One nuance: a message you send to a co-parent who uses Companion can still be read by their assistant, the same way an email you send can be read by the recipient's own tools.

Does my co-parent see what I put in?

No. Everything is private to your account by default; your co-parent sees only the specific items you choose to share. Companion can never message your co-parent for you.

Which AI company do you use?

Anthropic, the maker of Claude and a US-based AI company. It is the single AI provider behind Companion.
