When your co-parent is chronically late
Shared by Curated by CoreParent
Pickups and drop-offs are never on time. You and the kids end up waiting, plans get derailed, and it starts to feel like a message in itself.
What I tried
Blowing up at the door, matching their lateness in retaliation, or letting it slide until resentment boils over.
What worked
What tends to work: keep your own side impeccable and let the pattern document itself. Note each exchange time factually (a quick timestamped log), stay warm and on-time yourself, and have a low-drama plan for the kids while you wait (a game, a snack) so THEY don't absorb the tension. If it's chronic and disruptive, a calm written record is exactly what your attorney needs, far more than a heated confrontation ever accomplishes.
