See Section 7 for our full Children's Privacy policy.

3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on secure, managed infrastructure. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- Encrypted data transmission via HTTPS/TLS
- Encryption at rest on our managed storage infrastructure
- Uploaded files served only through short-lived signed links
- Secure session management and authentication via Clerk
- Access controls and role-based permissions
- Internal security reviews
While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to protecting your data to the best of our ability.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the Service. Each has its own privacy policy governing the data they process:
Clerk (Authentication)
Handles user registration, login, and session management. Clerk processes your email, name, and profile information. Clerk Privacy Policy
Stripe (Payments)
Processes subscription payments and billing. Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe and are never stored on our servers. Stripe Privacy Policy
Anthropic (Companion & AI Support Chat)
We use Anthropic's Claude language models to power Companion (our AI assistant) and our in-app AI support chat. Depending on the feature you use, the following information may be sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response:
- Message content and recent conversation history, when Companion detects a calendar event, expense, or appointment in your messages, or rewrites a draft message in a calmer tone at your request;
- Before message analysis, tone rewrites, incoming-message reframes, and deadline briefs are sent, we replace your children's profile names with neutral placeholders (like "Child A") on our servers, and restore them in the response. This applies to the names on your children's profiles; nicknames or other names typed in a message are sent as written. Attorney summaries, translation, and Snap & File documents are sent without this substitution;
- Journal or incident entries and parenting-plan text, when you generate an attorney summary or a deadline brief, or translate your parenting plan between English and Spanish;
- Anything you type into the AI support chat.
- Documents you add through Snap & File (the photo, PDF, or forwarded email you submit), which are sent to Anthropic to identify the document and extract details like dates, records, and deadlines.
- Messages, expense descriptions, and calendar event titles you choose to translate, when you tap Translate; and, if you turn on Always translate, incoming messages in the other language are translated automatically until you turn it off.
Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, Anthropic does not use this information to train its models and deletes it within 30 days (retaining limited safety-classifier results to enforce its usage policy). Companion runs on our servers and can never send anything to your co-parent. We do not store the text of your prompts or Companion's responses in our own AI logs. You can turn Companion AI off at any time in Settings → Notifications; while it is off, none of the above content is sent to Anthropic. Snap & File does not extract government identifiers such as Social Security, passport, or driver-license numbers into your records, though the document you submit is still processed by Anthropic to identify it. Anthropic Privacy Policy

5. Push Notifications
Our mobile application uses Capacitor to deliver push notifications to your device. Push notifications may include alerts about new messages, calendar reminders, expense updates, and other Service-related activity. You can enable or disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or within the app.
6. Cookies and Session Data
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your authenticated session and keep the app working smoothly. These are essential for the Service to function and are not used for advertising or third-party tracking. By using the Service, you consent to the use of these essential cookies.
7. Children's Privacy
CoreParent is intended solely for use by adults (parents and legal guardians). The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Parents may enter their children's names, birth dates, or other identifying details as part of parenting plans and custody schedules. This information is entered and managed entirely by the parent users. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information directly, please contact us at support@thecoreparent.com and we will promptly delete such information.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Data Export: Request a portable copy of your data in a commonly used format.
- Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@thecoreparent.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal information and co-parenting data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or enforcing our terms).
Payment records processed by Stripe may be retained by Stripe in accordance with their own data retention policies and applicable financial regulations.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through in-app notifications or email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
