How It Works

Sunday evening exchange. Wednesday dinner with the off-parent (usually 4-8 PM). The on-parent handles school mornings and evenings; the off-parent provides a mid-week touchpoint. Some families extend the Wednesday dinner into an overnight.

Best For

School-age children who can handle weekly stretches but benefit from mid-week contact.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Simpler than 2-2-3 but with similar mid-week connection
  • One major exchange per week
  • Flexibility: Wednesday dinner can be in-person or video call

Cons

  • Mid-week dinner requires coordination and can disrupt the on-parent's routine
  • Not as evenly distributed within a single week
