How It Works
Parent A always has Monday and Tuesday. Parent B always has Wednesday and Thursday. Friday through Tuesday (5 days) alternates weekly. The repeating weekday blocks give children a reliable rhythm; the alternating weekend block gives each parent real extended time.
Best For
Families with older children (8+) who can handle 5 days with one parent, and where both parents value predictable weekday routines.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Consistent weekday routine — same nights with same parent
- Each parent gets real 5-day stretches, not just weekends
- Only 3 transitions per week
Cons
- Slightly uneven within any single week (but even over 2 weeks)
- 5-day stretches away from one parent can feel long to younger kids
