When your co-parent won't respond to messages
Shared by Curated by CoreParent
You send a clear, reasonable message about the kids and get… nothing. Silence on scheduling, on a medical decision, on a simple yes/no. It's maddening, and it can start to affect real logistics.
What I tried
The instinct is to send follow-ups that get sharper each time, or to vent about the silence. That usually hardens the standoff and creates a paper trail that reflects poorly on you, not them.
What worked
What tends to work: send ONE message that's brief, specific, and has a clear deadline and default. Something like 'Confirming the dentist Tues 3pm. If I don't hear back by Sunday, I'll assume that works and book it.' Then let the silence be their record, not yours. Keep every message calm and child-focused, because non-response is often the thing a court notices, as long as your side stays reasonable.
