Introducing your child to a new partner
Shared by Curated by CoreParent
Things are getting serious with someone new, and you're weighing when and how to introduce them to your kids without rushing it or blindsiding your co-parent.
What I tried
Introducing too early (before the relationship is stable), springing it on the kids, or hiding it in a way that makes the eventual reveal feel like a secret.
What worked
What tends to work: wait until the relationship is genuinely steady, then go slow. Make the first meeting low-key, short, and activity-based, framed as 'my friend,' with no pressure on the kids to bond. Give your co-parent a simple heads-up beforehand (courtesy, not permission), because they'll hear about it from the kids anyway and advance notice lowers the temperature. Let the kids set the pace afterward.
