Building new holiday traditions that stick

Shared by Curated by CoreParent

The old holiday rituals belonged to the whole family, and doing half of them now just underlines what's missing. You want new ones that feel like yours, not leftovers.

What I tried

Clinging to every old tradition (which highlights the gap) or skipping holidays altogether (which the kids feel).

What worked

What tends to work: keep one or two old traditions the kids love, then invent something brand new that only happens in your home, like a specific breakfast, a silly annual outing, or a movie marathon. New rituals give kids something to look forward to instead of something to grieve, and they become the thing your family is known for.
